Monitoring and overseeing plans to develop, implement and monitor Placon’s facilities’ health, safety and environmental performance, Jake takes one day or “fire” at a time.
What do you do at Placon?
On a typical day, I put out day to day “fires” as I call them. These items could be anything from reviewing/updating policies, ordering PPE or supplies, organizing the disposal of a waste stream, working with our shift leads and managers on safety or environmental corrective actions, auditing our worksites for safety and environmental issues to performing safety training.
How does your job impact our customer?
I see more and more questionnaires from our customers that ask what we’re doing regarding sustainability, GHG’s or other environmental issues. Being an ISO 14001 certified facility, we have a lot of good things going on concerning recycling and energy reduction efforts.
What’s it like working at Placon?
I think Placon is doing all the right things. I see and hear our commitment to our own employees, to safety and the environment. Our culture, The Placon Way, really is something I think we can all be proud of at Placon.

What do you like to do in your free time?
My family is certainly my highest priority. Doing activities with my wife and two boys keeps me young. Whether we’re boating, fishing, camping, attending sporting events or playing games in the yard…that’s what keeps me going.
